Often when I meet someone for the first time, I'm asked "What do you do for a job?" in kind I respond "I'm a Chiropractor" which is often meet with a pregnant pause, and followed up with "Oh, you crack backs".
My response to that is "Well, no, that's not what Chiropractors actually do and what we seek to achieve". The correct explanation would be....
"Chiropractors restore optimal function to the Spine and Nervous System. With correct spinal alignment both your spine and nervous system operate at their fullest potential. Good health is only achieved when the brain and body are connected, free from interference"
To explain this visually, I make reference to the Safety Pin analogy.
In a nut shell - if your nervous system isn't aligned, your brain and your body aren't able to clearly communicate with each other.
This is what Chiropractors seek to restore - the crucial communication channel between your body and brain. When your brain and body are talking to each other well - what do you think happens? Quite simply, you'll feel great! and who doesn't want that?
